Mar 23, 2010Don Reeves, '78
Don Reeves, '78, has been selected to be the next coach of the Parkersburg High School Big Red Football team. He is a former quarterback who guided the Big Reds to a Class AAA state championship in 1978. Formally a coach at Jackson Junior High, Reeves teaches at PHS and has been an assistant coach at PHS for three years.

Betsy Curry, 2003 PHS graduate, is serving a leadership position in Paraguay as a coordinator to 40 business and municipal Peace Corps volunteers. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2007 and is scheduled to remain in the Peace Corps through September 2010. Her father is former Wood County Superintendent of Schools Dan Curry.
Feb 28, 2010Dick Boso, '62
Dick Boso has retired after 44 years of professional flying. He taught hundreds of foreign airline pilots, flew worldwide medivac for many years, and finished his career as a corporate pilot for several large corporations.
He holds 5 turbo-jet type ratings and over 22,000 hours. He and wife Diane (Davis) plan to move back to the Fairmont area very soon.

Fisher Pence, '96, appeared in the Nov. 30 issue of People magazine talking with actor, Jerry O'Connell, who was named one of People's "Sexiest Men Alive." O'Connell is one of Pence's clients at 3 Arts Entertainment in California.

Nick Swisher, '98, the pride of Parkersburg, was recognized by the United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley for his $10,000 donation.

Joe Martin, '90, was recently named Parkersburg's new Police Chief. He served 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and has been with the Police Dept. since 1977. Joe was officer of the year in 2000 and 2001
Oct 3, 2009J. Fred Early II, '74
J. Fred Earley II '74 was recently selected by the company's board of directors as president and chief executive offer of Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shield headquartered in Parkersburg. He joined the company in 1989 and has served as senior president of external operations, general counsel and corporate secretary. Fred holds a B.S. in business administration from WVU and a law degree from Washington and Lee University.

The Rev. George Nedeff '59 is serving St. Anthony Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas. He also has developed a very rewarding prison ministry at McConnell Prison in Beeville, Texas. George was an outstanding wrestler at PHS and WVU and is a member of the Mid-Ohio Valley and WVU sports hall of fame.

Irene is currently employed as a Budget analyst with an Aerospace company and has resided in Aliso Viejo, California for the past 23 years. She graduated with a BSBAM degree from University of Redlands. She is looking forward to future announcements from PHS.
Sep 13, 2009Remembrance: Mary Lou Hague, '92
Students, teachers, and community members gathered at PHS front campus on 9/11/2009 to remember '92 graduate Mary Lou Hague who died in the World Trade Center in 2001. She worked on the 89th. floor as a research analyst for an investment banking company. At PHS, a garden and Sports and Arts complex building have been named in her honor.

Edwin Dils was honored recently by Community Bank at a reception naming him a "director emeritus", upon his retirement from the bank's Board of Directors with 54 years of service. Ed serves on the PHS Foundation Board and is an emeritus member of the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation Board, chairing the Advisory Council. We salute Ed's accomplishments and express appreciation for his contributions to the Parkersburg community.

Joe Mullenix is playing his country music and rock and roll for 3 weeks in Norway. Now living in LA, the name of his band is Los Angeles Texas. He will be in town for his class reunion on July 24th and 25th.

Dr. Aloysius Davis received the Outstanding Psychiatrist of the Year award for clinical psychiatry by the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society.

Gaylene has been named Interim State Director for the AARP West Virginia. In 1999 she was tapped by Gov. Cecil Underwood to serve as Commissioner of the WV Bureau of Senior Services. Gaylene lives in Charleston with her husband Jim Chrivia.

Nick is fitting in nicely with the New York Yankees. He has gone from the bench to being a starter. He has hit home runs, played the infield and outfield and even pitched in the majors. This is quite an accomplishment for this young lad.
Apr 28, 2009Doug White, '70
Parkersburg High School Alumni have their own hero pilot among their ranks. Doug White, '70, was a passenger on a Sky King aircraft owned by his company, White Equipment Leasing in Louisiana. While flying home from a short holiday, the pilot suffered a heart attack and died.

A pilot himself - though never having flown an aircraft of such size - Doug leaped into the pilot's chair and radioed for assistance. 30 minutes later, with the help of air traffic controllers, Doug had landed the plane safely. Having recently lost his brother, Jeff ('73), the White family has avoided another tragedy thanks to the skillfull actions of Doug and the controllers.

Jason has accepted a teaching position at Charlotte School of Law in North Carolina. He has just completed a two year teaching position at the University of Chicago Law School Legal Aid Clinic.
Mar 18, 2009George Nedeff, '59
George was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, West Virginia chapter in Charleston on Oct 26, 2008. He was the heavyweight state champion in 1958, captain of the West Virginia University wrestling team in 1963, Head Wrestling coach at WVU for seven years and director of athletic facilities at WVU from 1972 - 1979.

Danielle has been living in California chasing after her dream of becoming an actor. She received her Screen Actors Guild card (union card). She keeps busy auditioning for parts and taking acting classes.

Michael is the national director of venue design and construction for concert promotion company Live Nation. One of his current projects is the $11.5 million renovation of the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
Mar 18, 2009Barbara Kight, '38
Barbara has been a loan officer at the then Parkersburg National Bank and now United Bank for 67 years, and retired on March 17, 2009.

Ralph is the first PHS graduate to become principal of his alma mater.
